HydroTec's U.S. Patent Number 7,905,181 and International Patent Pending technology is the most precise method of mass-producing paintballs in the history of the sport. For decades manufacturers of gelatin paintballs have explored more efficient and affordable ways to make paint. The game has also long needed a paintball that is specifically designed for the playing environment. After 7 years of development HydroTec® is finally here.

The Process:

HydroTec® does not use soft-gelatin encapsulation equipment for production, but instead uses advanced cutting edge technology for manufacturing. The production line features computer controlled, state of the art forming, filling, and sealing methods to deliver a paintball that is precisely constructed. Extremely efficient, reused material to make paintballs referred to as “seconds” does not exist with HydroTec®.

Forming:
The outer shell is formed using highly precise conditions to provide a predictable shell thickness throughout each paintball. This eliminates thick or thin spots in the shell, which can lead to poor performance. It also ensures that the shell breaks on impact consistently providing superior quality. Drying is no longer required to remove moisture from the paintball after it is filled and sealed. This improvement in processing eliminates unpredictability and inconsistency ball to ball.

Filling:
Each ball is filled exactly to ensure a consistent center of mass, which in round projectiles promotes accuracy.

Sealing:
Sealing between the shell halves occurs with the aid of advanced heat-sealing methods. This heat sealing provides uniformity at the seam that maintains centerline without deviation toward either pole. It also creates a seal free from weak spots or pinhole leaks.

Highly efficient manufacturing methods with little or zero waste of raw materials helping to reduce cost, computer-controlled production line, advanced customization of product without drop off in production time.

The Materials:

HydroTec® is constructed from innovative raw materials that combine to represent the most environmentally friendly paintball formulation in existence. It features not just an “H20 fill” but also a plant derived“eco-shell”. This combination promises to revolutionize the game as we know it. These raw materials are also more suitable for both the outdoor and indoor playing environments, when taking into consideration aspects that players encounter in game.

Shell:
The outer shell material is a plant derived, non-toxic, non-animal, renewable polymer made from corn. The shell does not react to moisture or water, meaning it does not swell, stick or soften when exposed. It can also be customized to include printing, embossing, or imprints of logos, words, letters, etc.

Fill:
The fill is 90-98% water. There are absolutely no oils, either petroleum or soy based in HydroTec®. However, the fill does have some unique physical properties. The fill is a gel when at rest inside the shell, but immediately upon impacting a target it runs like water until the energy from impact dissipates (milliseconds) and then again returns to a gel state. Since the fill is water it eventually evaporates making clean up much easier. This also means that you and your gear will no longer have a greasy or waxy layer after playing.
